The following was Mayor Stewart’s letter to the City Clerk when he line item vetoed several parts of the City Council’s proposed budget. In this letter he outlines several of the common tactics employed by the local democrats to turn the budgetary process into an elaborate shell game where the only losers are the taxpayers. [...] The school budget for the upcoming fiscal year passed on January 12th. The total cost is $128.5 million. While this includes modest raises for both teachers and administrators it was a rather reasonable budget.
