“The quality of our schools is a key component to the revitalization of our city. If I am fortunate enough to obtain a seat on the Board of Education, I will seek to promote practices and changes that will help the children of New Britain reach their fullest potential.”
Judy Greco has an extensive knowledge of what it takes to be an educator. She worked from 1963 to 1973 as an elementary school teacher at Smalley School. It was in this position that she had her first experience as an Administrator, serving as Interim Principal for four months in 1971. She then changed roles, working to help our youth as a guidance councilor at Roosevelt Jr. High School from 1973 till 1976. After serving as a guidance councilor for three years, she stepped fully into an administrative role, working as the Interim Principal as well as a Counselor.
In 1978 she began work at CCSU, serving an Internship in the Department of Special Education. After completing the Internship in 1979 she began work as a Senior Counselor at Pulaski High School, where she served until 1981 when she took up the role of being the first female Housemaster at New Britain High School. Judy held that position for 8 years before becoming the CEO and the first lay woman Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where she served until retiring in 1995.
As if her experience as an educator was not enough to qualify her for serving on the Board of Education, she was also involved in several other organizations and activities including: President of the Boys and Girls Club (2006-present), YWCA Board of Directors, first female President of the Kiwanis Club (1989), Member of the Board of Directors for the Young Parent Club (1986-1988).
Clearly Judy Greco has made it her life long commitment to improve the lives of children through the power of education and leadership. She will continue to do so once elected the Board of Education.
