Mark Bernacki (R) - Alderman at Large

Mark Bernacki

Contact Information
Address: 141 Oakwood Drive, New Britain

“The biggest challenge facing New Britain is attracting and maintaining a vibrant middle class and small and medium sized businesses. “

Mark Bernacki (age 53) has worked hard for New Britain, both as a business owner of Sir Speedy Printing in downtown New Britain for the past 20 years, and as an Alderman on the City Council for the past 16 years. He has had the honor of serving as Mayor pro tempore for eight years, a post to which he was elected by his peers.  He has also worked in the truly bipartisan fashion in the past, making truly difficult decisions to solve many of the problems confronting our city.

He is deeply concerned that over the past two years the Council has lost out on critical federal grants due to conflicts of interest with specific council members. Proposals by the Mayor and by town Republicans are being defeated not due to their lack of merit, but simply due to party affiliation. In addition there have been several lapses in ethics among council members (some of which reported on this site) that have eroded the public trust.

When reelected, Mark Bernacki commits himself to working with Mayor Stewart to attract large developers to New Britain and to make downtown and Pinnacle Heights vibrant and attractively developed sites. He will work with Mayor Stewart to develop pro-active policies of property tax relief, economic development, continuation of city services and accountability of all elected officials.
